Today I read a great article, which compared learning styles of natives with that of ESL learners. I do teach ESL learners with the recommended dose of balanced grammar, reading comp, writing etc but I can't help thinking that the absence of literature, which is where the former receive a lot of experience is the missing link for huge improvement. Does anyone think that literature (appropriate to age and level of course) is not as affective with ESL students? Perhaps it's daunting to overwhelm them with quantity that they may resist in some way as not everything is firmiliar at a glance. Any thoughts please share.
